"insects feast" in hometown

I spent the Spring Festival this year in my hometown,Lianyungang,Jiangsu Province. And I revisited it this summer. This time I stayed more closed to the countryside,so I got the chance to taste the rural life.Unlike other Chinese people,no matter where I visit, the first thing I ask is not food.I prefer homemade dishes. But folks in hometown are always hospitable, there's no chance they would "release" me,as long as they can get that "one of highest-protein foods" - insects.(still chilling)

Well,I had heard of the insects dishes, like ants.Folks told me how they caught and cooked those locusts years ago when locusts wreaked havoc. They kept describing how tasty those fried insects were.I threw up inside but didn't show it.Maybe I hid it too well, folks actually prepared the "insects feast" for me.Just for your information, those insects are not so easy to get as before,so it must have cost them much which forced me to accept their hospitality.*SIGH* - this story tells us being Chinese can be really weary.

Other things from Jiangsu.

One day ahead of my departure,I was invited to visit the birthplace of the Monkey King,Huaguoshan Mountain/花果山.Everybody knew Monkey King was just a character of "The Journey to the West",so you can see that the Huaguo Mountain is totally commercialized for the tourism. But since I'm a nature lover,I was willing to pay a visit to it.
(Monkeys are definitly indispensable.)
(Cute, huh? Those monkeys were so aggressive.I was freaked out.)
(Other than monkeys,I saw uncountable cryprinus carpiod. That was amazing.)
(I felt very guilty to see the spotted deers because I ate a spotted deer not long ago.)
And I visited Xuzhou/徐州 with my uncle and auntie later.Until than,I knew there actually were spicy food tasted better than Sichuan's and Hunan's--Xuzhou Cuisine. Why there is no Xuzhou Restaurant in Shenzhen?I'm so gonne be the first one to open one if I'm weathy enough in the future.^^
After the lunch,I visited the Martyr Memorial Tower of Huaihai Battle. It was free(unexpectedly) but very impressive.I wanna say sorry to the conservators because I took quite a few pics before I knew I shouldn't have.
(I saw Dengxiaoping. And guess what,he was the only one I was capable to recognize.)
(This pic of Chiang Kai Shek and Chairman Mao appeared in my history book for many times.)

Next,I'll post something I found fuuny, weird or tellable in my hometown.
1.The building had no stairs but some some sort of slope.I was told that it was because they used bicycle a lot.
2.That were many stores that sold wreath, graveclothes and urn.Are those stuff that popular?
3.Apartments in my hometown were all sold at reasonable price.
4.Products with fake brand were easily found, like the following "Aeipple".
5.I had no idea why Korean commentary(second to English) was everywhere.I mean they should've put more languages.
6."If the army and the people have one mind,we're second to none."China is not a militaristic country. This slogan is so misleading.Good thing that it was written in Chinese.^^
Guess it's the time I get done posting things about my jounrney in my hometown.I was wondering if there was a day that Shenzhen became my hometown...or even China.

More from my hometown.

Me and mom were reluctantly involed into a superstition activity--fortunetelling.That man(or woman) said mom wouldn't have a change of luck until her 50s,including love life.Speaking of mom's romance,I got the chance to have dinner with an old classmate of hers in my hometown. And according to the position in the family hierarchy thing, mom should call him uncle, even though they're the same age.

If my memory worked,he aperiodically called mom and asked how she was doing. However,I didn't know he had a secret crush on my mom when they were young, neither did mom.But he revealled the secret when he knew mom got divorced.I was secretly happy for mom for having such a story.I asked her about it,she replied that she didn't know his mind and she always saw him as just a friend.Folks even dragged me into the fortunetelling thing and told me all about it,I don't feel like retelling it though.

Anyway,I had a good time in my hometown.Everyone was so nice and every meal was so big.^^

And I even got a chance to see and touch a real gun.I didn't know a real gun could be that heavy until I held it.

I did take something special and precious---some photos of little me.Everybody said I looked just like when I was young.Well,maybe.^^

Take a breath~

10 P.M yesterday,me and my mom finally got back to Shenzhen from Lianyungang.Who would have thought that it would take 15 hours to get home? Our plane was delayed by hours and we missed the chance to hitch a ride.It was totally a hard and long journey, because we,two women, took six suitcases back. After getting back home sweet home,I was too hungry to eat anything while mom was being a neat freak like always--doing housework and washing as soon as we entered the house.

(We had to stay at the airport because of the heavy fog.)
(We were offered unappetizing lunch at the airport.)
(Is there anyone out there questioning that me and mom were super women?)

To be continued......

Hello February!

Well,I know I'm leaving here soon when it turned to February.I'd lived in hotel for the past few days(long story) and had been dragged into every visiting folks thing like a child.Neither do I miss Shenzhen, nor look forward to staying here for more days.

(One of those very special dumpling.)
(Ox~)
(Bull and bullshit.LOL)
Aftering being with so many cousins and folks,I got the feeling that parents in my hometown badly spoil their children which is not glorious as far as I'm concerned.Over here, most kids are free from any housework and aren't not capable to daily life.Although there still are quite a few old rules and reguations here, parents don't implant good manners in their children. So now what I see is that those kids have no common decency. They don't greeting the elders, not to mention their table manners.

People in my hometown are friendly, some are even well off but it's a shame that they seem to be content only with having big meals and expensive clothing(which seems to me is too over and sorta styleless). And I found that they get tired easily and they're not capable to walk---they're fond of taking a cab or something like that and never feel like going on foot even to somewhere nearby.I don't know whether I should say they are lazy bones or have money to burn.Well,I don't mean to be judgemental but I'm more accustomed to humble fare.

It's too dark here in my hometown so I don't dare to go out alone at night. However, while lighting service is poor,in the daytime,it's all the traffic. There is too much whistle from all kinds of automobiles and traffic lights here are a mere mockery.

I think I had set off all the fireworks and firecrackers of my life at this Spring Festival. The most amazing is I got the chance to see some fireworks which looked like landmine. It looked scary but I got enough nerve to set off one.

The following videos were taken by me.Hope to share those fun with you.
